The crash occurred at about 10:20 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, when a 2017 Kia Sportage veered off Cliff Road in the village of Belle Terre, struck a tree, and caught fire, according to Suffolk County Police said.
The vehicle was traveling northbound between Old Homestead Road and Bell Circle at the time.
A Village of Belle Terre constable was the first to arrive at the scene and helped extricate the driver, a 19-year-old Rocky Point man, and two passengers, a 20-year-old Rocky Point man, and 20-year-old Farmingville resident.
The Port Jefferson Fire Department extinguished the flames.
All three were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
